Carleton University Art Gallery CUAG

Graduate research assistantship

Each year CUAG offers a Research Assistant (RA) position, which is held for up to two terms by a registered graduate art history student of high academic standing. The position involves 10 hours of work at the gallery each week. The amount of the award equals the Teaching Assistant (TA) stipend and is paid over two terms. An RA can not hold TA and RA positions at the same time.

Potential candidates must submit to the gallery’s director a one-page, single-spaced proposal outlining a project. Your project should be thesis-related, without duplicating your thesis, and should make use of or reference to CUAG’s collection or history. You are encouraged to contact the director or curator in advance to discuss your proposal.

The director and curator will assess the proposals and advise the Faculty of Graduate and Research Studies of their decision. The Faculty of Graduate and Research Studies makes the offer to the successful candidate.

Proposals must be submitted by 30 June in order for the RA to be assigned for the beginning of the subsequent fall term.
