Governance

The governing authority of CUAG is the Board of Governors of Carleton University. An Advisory Committee to the Director is in place, with appointments delegated to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), in consultation with the Director. CUAG’s Director reports to the Dean of FASS.

Advisory Committee

The purpose of the Advisory Board is:

  • To advise and support the Director and staff of CUAG with respect to the implementation of policies, programmes, and services in accordance with CUAG’s mandate and mission.
  • To promote CUAG within Carleton University and the broader community, and to make representations as required
  • To offer leadership in CUAG’s endeavours, and to help ensure that CUAG has the necessary resources to fulfill its mandate
  • To receive and review the Director’s annual report, and to recommend the report to the Board of Governors of the University

Within the general policies of Carleton University, the duties and responsibilities of the Advisory Committee include:

  • To approve the policies recommended by the Director of CUAG on such matters as collecting, programming, and funding
  • To make recommendations regarding CUAG for approval by the officers of the University as required
  • To approve acquisitions for the permanent collection of the University upon the recommendation of the Director
  • To monitor CUAG’s adherence to the terms and conditions of gifts as requested by donors named within these terms and conditions, now and at any future date
  • To advise the officers of the University on any matters directed to it by the President of the University
